History

Eastside Christian School was established in 1969 as a day care to serve the surrounding neighborhoods as well as the members of the United Free Methodist church that owned the property at the time.  Though the ownership of the land has changed a few times, from the beginning ECS has been in partnership, in terms of the facility, with the church on-site.   However, we are not and have never been affiliated with any particular church or denomination.  We have, however, maintained a solid set of beliefs that have guided us in our journey to this point.  (See our Statement of Faith).

Early on it was clear that God had plans to use ECS in a mighty way.  The school continued to grow and began adding grades at a quick pace.  We attracted top quality teachers, many of whom have been at ECS for many years now.  In the mid 1990’s a second class for each grade was added as well so that there are two classes per grade even to this day.  With God’s help and good old word of mouth advertising amongst friends and family, ECS has grown into a strong body of believers that is really like a big family.

In 1995, ECS received its Certificate of Incorporation as an independent 501(c)(3) entity.

ECS is also a long standing member of the Association of Christian Schools International.
Throughout its history ECS has benefited from strong leadership from the school board made up of committed Christian ECS parents (SEE Leadership/Governance).   By God’s grace we’ve maintained our commitment and passion for Christian education.  With all the growth and changes in administration over the years, ECS has managed to define itself and its mission in this way:  “Educating Children in the Christ-Inspired, Joyful Pursuit of Excellence.   It’s not just something nice to put on our stationary.  It’s truly who we are.

We are now enjoying the fruits of our labors with young parents who once attended our preschool now bringing their own children to ECS to experience a wonderful Christian education.  Many of our alumni gather to keep in touch and come back to visit for special events and home games.

We welcome you to consider becoming part of the ECS family.
